Mariana Trench Virus Holds Intergalactic Feast

In an unprecedented press statement, an abundant bacteriophage virus, previously isolated deep within the Mariana trench, announced its delight at finding an smorgasbord of new species to infect on this planet and beyond.

The bacteriophage virus belongs to the order of Oceanospirallales and finds its takeout meal of choice to be Halomonas, a renowned bacterium distinguished for its ability to withstand high salinity levels. However, now the bacteriophage has declared its intention to widen its culinary horizons through consuming other life forms, causing a humorous and somewhat alarming situation for the scientific community worldwide.

"The gourmand in me can't help but rejoice. Earth, meet your newest food critic!" the virus mockingly announced in a press release issued via the Ocean University of China.

This audacious outburst is believed to be the result of the virus' inherent property of infecting and replicating inside bacteria, a talent it has honed over hundreds of thousands of years and is, unfortunately, ready to unleash at a much larger scale now.

Marine virologist, Dr. Min Wang of the Ocean University of China, expressed her sardonic surprise at the virus's ambition. "We knew these bacteriophages had an appetite, but to hear that one intends to become a gastronomic nomad par excellence, infecting species across the universe, requires a whole new level of biological cheek."

Virologists around the world are not entirely sure of what to make of the virus's audacious proclamations. But in the spirit of good humor and scientific curiosity they have determined to intensify their studies. They are ardently encouraging every life form on the planet and beyond to review their dietary habits, as it seems the laws of the food chain have suddenly decided to swing both ways.
